General Rules

1. Intending exhibitors are requested to forward their entries, together with fees, to the Secretary, Mrs Liz Black, 24 Lime Avenue, Eydon, Northants, NN11 3PG Tel: 01327 263186, not later than Friday 21st July 2023. This will ensure that their names appear in the Programme. Please make cheques payable to ‘Blakesley Show Ltd’. Entries may be taken on the day subject to an additional fee for some classes. No late entries will be accepted in any Sheep classes.

2. In all pony classes prizes will be awarded as follows: if 3 or less catalogued entries in a class, 1st prize only: if 5 or less, 1st and 2nd prize only awarded.

3. All competitors are requested to be on the showground at least half an hour before judging commences.

4. All objections must be lodged in writing with the Secretary within half an hour of the event, accompanied by a deposit of £10 which will be refunded if the objection is upheld. This rule applies to classes other than those run under other Societies Rules.

5. Exhibitors will be admitted to the Show only on production of an Exhibitor’s Pass which will admit ONE person only. If additional guest passes are required, these can be purchased at a cost of £8 each. Trade exhibitors should contact the Trade Secretary and horse/pony and livestock exhibitors should contact the Secretary.

6. Dogs are permitted on the Showground provided they are kept on a lead at all times. Dogs are not permitted in the Member’s marquee with the exception of assistance dogs.

7. The Committee reserves the right to refuse any entry and its decision on all matters shall be final.

8. The Committee reserves the right to make any adjustment in the order of the Schedule if necessary.

9. No exhibit may leave the Showground before 4pm without the consent of the Committee.

10. As a One Day, Open-Air Show, there is NO requirement for pre or post movement TB testing under current DEFRA regulations.

11. BCMS require all cattle exhibitors to record movements to and from the showground in cattle passports. Showground Holding Number 29/307/8000

12. All senior bulls must have nose rings fitted.

13. Handlers of senior bulls must be aged 16 years or over.

14. Every horse and pony being shown is liable to be dope tested.

15. Every rider who is mounted must wear a hard hat at all times and back protectors are strongly recommended.

16. Equine Influenza and Tetanus vaccinations are a compulsory requirement for all horses attending the Blakesley Show. The requirement for the first 3 vaccinations is as follows: the first 2 vaccinations 21 – 92 days apart, a third booster between 150-215 days, and annual booster vaccination within 365 days thereafter. No horse should enter competitions within 7 days of an EI vaccination. Foals should commence vaccinations at 6 months old. This Rule may be subject to change from guidance from the FEI/BEF and any changes will be notified via the Showing Council and ASAO websites. Blakesley Show reserves the right to carry out spot checks, so please ensure that in accordance with regulations your horse/pony passport accompanies them to the show.

17. The Company does not accept any liability for accident, damage, loss, injury or illness to owners, horses, riders, livestock, spectators, trade stands or any other persons or property.

18. If any section of the Show is cancelled before the closing date for entries, 50% of entry fees will be refunded.

19. The Show will be adhering to all current Public Health Guidance and reserves the right to restrict entries should classes become oversubscribed.
